India is at the forefront of Generative AI adoption in the Asia Pacific region.
Deloitte’s newly released findings from its report, Generative AI in Asia Pacific: Young employees lead as employers play catch-up, highlight India’s remarkable engagement with Generative AI (GenAI). The survey reveals that 93% of students and 83% of employees in India are actively utilizing this technology. Based on responses from 11,900 individuals across the Asia Pacific, the report positions India as a leader among 13 countries in GenAI adoption, underscoring the urgent need for employers and policymakers to adapt to this swiftly advancing technology.

The survey indicates that the widespread adoption of Generative AI (GenAI) is being propelled by tech-savvy young employees, referred to as “Generation AI.” These individuals are at the forefront of integrating GenAI into the workplace, presenting both challenges and opportunities for employers. According to the report, “Generation AI” is significantly contributing to saving work hours, fostering new skill development opportunities, creating more sustainable workloads, and enhancing overall productivity.
However, this trend has reversed with Generative AI (GenAI). Employees and students in developing economies are adopting GenAI faster than those in developed economies.
